EXPLORE THE dARLING dOWNS

Do you want to relax this holiday? Are you an adrenalin junkie or do you like good food and wine? The Darling Downs has something for everyone. Chookhouse is a great base to explore the local area. 

HORSEBACK RIDING 

There are many options for horse riding locally but one of our favourites is Cowboy Up Trail Riding in Emu Creek, just an hour away from Chookhouse. A great local option is Glen Lomond Park perfect for a walk, mountain biking or horse riding.

ROCK CLIMBING

For those of you looking for a great adventure and excellent views over the Great Dividing Range, why not venture to Table Top Mountain, this 700m ascent will take a couple of hours but it is well worth it when you get to the top!

EATING OUT

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to great grub. With Eat Street a vibrant mix of flavours to local gastro pubs, there is an abundance of choice. Nestled in the lanes around Toowoomba are many quirky and noteworthy eateries. Ask Jennie and Rob for local recommendations.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Bring you bikes whilst on this holiday, there are great trails to explore locally, for a leisurely cycle Preston Peak Winery is within easy reach of Chookhouse, it's also the perfect opportunity to sample some of their fine wine. For the adrenalin junkies, perhaps a cycle around Picnic Point or Prince Henry Drive.

WATER SPORTS

With Lakes Perseverance, Cooby and Cressbrook within an hour of Chookhouse, you can fish, water ski, kayak and canoe until your hearts content. If you are looking for something a little quieter and off the beaten track, Rob has some great recommendations.

Whether you are looking for an historic insight into Queensland's past (Cobb and Co Museum or Jondaryan Woolshed) or a more contemporary experience Toowoomba Regional Art Galleries, there is plenty of culture and atmosphere to soak up locally.
